Bahman, I love to get so much information from you. Your knowledge goes in many different directions and is always interesting. I need to know more about Father Christmas in Iran. Tell me more.
A couple of corrections: 1. He is Mohammad’s daughter son. "He is Mohammad's grandson." or "He is Mohammad's daughter's son." (Here you are using the possessive.
2. It is a big tragic. It tragic is a reason for flagellate, but a really reason is love to Hussein Ibn Ali. (Tragic is an adjective. You need the noun, tragedy.) "It was (past tense) a big tragedy. The tragedy is the reason for persons to flagellate themselves, but the real reason is to show love for Hussein Ibn Ali."

If you ask me, Sue no civilized, sane man would ever flaggellate himself in order to show love. Love means care and kindness. I would very much love to see if these same people are prepared to rein in their lust and anger when the time comes. Rumi was a man who held a lantern in his hands in broad daylight looking for a man who stayed a man at the time of lust and anger. Islam has become too ceremonial among some people.
If one is searching for light and not vengeful darkness, then such practices are out of bounds, Ali. I agree. I hesitate criticizing someone's religious beliefs, but reason tells me this is not God's will.
There are some American Indian tribes who have been converted to Christianity who recreate Christ on the Cross, nails and everything. It doesn't change the fact that the Crucicfiction happened, nor does it show their strength and faith anymore than if they decided to help the poor and needy to show a love of God. We call God, the Father, and you call him the Friend. Can anyone explain why a father or a friend would want someone to do such things? I am antiwar and I am against any form of violence. Therefore, flagellation and any such activities always make me shiver.
